Get decayed wood flakes, add into container untill 5 cm high then press down, then add one or 2 decayed logs and add more wood flakes till the logs are half covered and place the container in a quiet corner. After a month or two, break open the log to check check for larvae or eggs and some females will also lay eggs i the wood fleks around the log.

For odontolabis, neolucanus and lucanus species, the females will lay eggs in flake soil or organic compost,a log can be added into the substrate to induce the female to lay more eggs.
